Chapter 1: Basketball Games

"Wooo! C'mon Sasuke! Show them who's boss!" Naruto yelled from the stands. A few surrounding people glared at him, but he ignored them and continued to cheer on his friends on the court. He grinned as Kiba, one of his best friends, passed the ball towards Sasuke and the Uchiha caught it swiftly then dribbled towards their goal. He practically jumped off the stands when the raven made a perfect three-point shot. The buzzer sounded and the crowd, along with him, cheered.

They watched as the disgruntled Oto High basketball players slapped hands with the Konoha High basketball players. Naruto waited in the bleachers after the hyped up crowd disappeared and left in their vehicles. Naruto checked his watch and tapped his foot impatiently. He was waiting for his friends to get out of the locker rooms. The only reason the blond was here and not at work, was because he had practically begged his boss to let him off today. It was the same routine every Thursday so he was used to it.

"Yo! Naruto! Did ya like the game!" He heard a gruff voice shout. He turned and grinned when he spotted his disheveled looking friend walking out of the locker room. He clambered off the bleachers and ran up to him. The blond slapped a hand on his back and grinned toothily.

"Hell yeah! You were rockin' it my friend! That trick you did to fool that twin was sick man! He was all like 'where the hell did that ball go!' and it was already in the basket when he realized where it was man!" Kiba grinned at him. The brunette sat on the bleachers and waited for the rest of his team to come out. Naruto growled and picked up a basketball that had laid forgotten on the court.

"Naruto, have you taken your pills?" Kiba questioned while watching him dribble the ball from the half-court line and shoot it perfectly into the hoop. Naruto glowered and licked his lips as he ran down the to the net and did a half-assed lay-up.

"No..." He said. Kiba snorted and laid back in his seat. Naruto ran down the the edge of the line and got into position. He backed up a little and squawked when he felt himself trip on his own feet. He shut his eyes tightly and waited for the impact on his head, but when he felt strong arms wrap around him, he fluttered his eyes open. He met with sapphire orbs that matched his own and he blushed when he spotted a smug smirk on the blond man's face. He scrambled to stand up straight and blushed an even darker shade of red when the hands still wouldn't let go of his waist. He pried off the hands and laughed nervously as he turned around to face the other blond.

"Haha, hiya Minato." He said, embarrassed. The blond smiled at him and ruffled his spiky blond hair.

"What's up, Naruto?" The older blond asked. Naruto shifted his eyes to look anywhere but at the handsome man before him.

"Ah, nothing much. Just here and there as usual." Minato nodded and glanced to where his team was coming out of the locker rooms.

"Have you ever thought about joining the tenth grade basketball team? You could be a great asset to the team." Minato asked Naruto. Blue eyes widened momentarily. The younger blond chewed on his lip and looked around.

"I can't right now, with all the bills I have to pay I can barely even come to these basketball games without having consequences. Imagine if I were to join, then I would have to practice and everything. I just don't have time, you know?" The blond basketball player nodded and went to pat Naruto's shoulder comfortingly, but the blond bomb-shell glared at his descending hand and jerked away from it. Minato was startled at the action and let his hand retreat. Naruto's eyes widened like he had barely realized what he had done. He looked away, ashamed, and turned to walk towards the exit. Minato just stared and then he felt a hand on his shoulder. He glanced down and noticed that Kiba was staring after the blond as well.

"He thinks that showing sympathy is like showing pity, and he hates when people pity him. That idiot just can't tell the difference for the life of him." The brunette explained softly. Minato nodded and noticed a pale blond with ruby eyes glare at him as he passed Kiba and him. He vaguely remembered that the teen was from Sasuke's team and he watched as he went after Naruto.

Temujin had noticed the interaction between the two blonds and, dare his pride to let him admit it, his jealousy grew by the feet as he watched Naruto get all flustered around the school's most popular guy. He grew angry when he noticed how Naruto's cerulean depths darkened as Minato said something and reached out for him. It quickly turned to smugness when Naruto walked away from him. He chose it as his cue to go after him and as he passed the older blond, he glared at him.

Temujin reached for Naruto's hand and encircled his hand around the blond's wrist then jerked it back. Naruto whirled around and went to tell the person who had pulled on him a few choice words but they died in his mouth when he caught site of who had grabbed him. He smiled brightly at the teen in front of him.

"Hi, Temujin! I didn't know it was you." The blond laughed sheepishly while scratching the back of his neck. Temujin couldn't help but smile and as he was about to reply, he was interrupted by a deep, rich voice.

"Dobe, why didn't you wait for me?" Naruto turned to the voice and grinned at the raven.

"Oh, I was, but you took so damn long that I decided to leave without you!" Temujin narrowed his eyes at him. Liar, he thought as he noticed that the blond's smile didn't reach his eyes as usual. Sasuke rolled his eyes and started to walk outside. Naruto waved at the pale blond and followed his raven-haired friend.

The blond climbed into his friend's Camaro and quickly put on his seat-belt as the engine roared to life. Sasuke did the same and in no time, they were off towards Naruto's apartment.

"I saw Minato and you together by the locker rooms." Sasuke stated, quietly. Naruto stiffened and turned his head to look at the raven.

"So?" He replied back, choosing his words carefully. The raven glanced at him.

"Why don't you just tell him how you feel?" Naruto sighed exasperatedly.

"Because he's not gay, Sasuke! Have you seen the way he flirts with those girls? It's disgusting." The blond crossed his arms angrily and sat back in his seat. Sasuke snorted at him and kept silent. Once they made it to his apartment, Naruto took off his seat-belt, said his good-bye and thanks you to Sasuke, then walked up the stairs towards his complex. It wasn't until he unlocked his door and went inside did Sasuke finally leave. Naruto snickered.

"Protective bastard even though he won't admit it to save his life."

Sasuke and him had been best friends ever since elementary school, where they had gotten into a crayon fight with each other. They didn't say it aloud, but to one another, they were as close as two sticks glued together, but not in that way. Everybody knew that and if someone messed with the blond, then they would feel the wrath of an Uchiha, and most likely an Inuzuka and a Hozuki too. Plus Temujin. Naruto laughed at the thought of adding his best friends together.

His raven-haired friend had stuck with him in the worst of times and he was grateful for that since he didn't have anyone else. His parents had died a few years after he was born in a tragic car crash when they were bringing him home from the hospital. Naruto had been diagnosed with asthma when he was five years old. The blond reached inside his pocket and took out his inhaler.

His father had been a famous doctor who had helped millions of patients, and he went by the name of Arashi Kazama. His mother had been a world-wide inspiration for crime-investigators everywhere and went by the name of Kushina Uzumaki. He clutched his inhaler tightly. Both his mother and his father had been famous, and he had killed them because of his stupid condition. If it wasn't for him, then they wouldn't have had to die. They wouldn't have had to go back and get him while it was raining. He let a tear slip from his eye. It had been all over the news in big black letters, 'Demon Son Kills the Kazama's'.

Cerulean orbs stared angrily at the inhaler in his clutched hand. If it hadn't been for him, his parents would have still been alive and the world wouldn't hate him. Nobody wanted him after the incident. They had avoided him like that plague and not even the orphanage had let him stay. Soon after, the Uchiha's had taken him in for a few years, but he had told them not to adopt him. He didn't want to ruin the family name after all. He just stayed under the radar until he was thirteen and decided to move out, much to Mikoto's, Sasuke's mom, displeasure.

Naruto had bonded with the Uchiha family during those years, though. Mikoto had been like a protective mom to him, and Fugaku was like a father, albeit, too stern to show emotion, but Naruto made sure he showed some for the both of them. Itachi had been like an older brother to him and Obito as well. Sasuke, though, was a little bit of everything, he concluded.

The young Uchiha was a friend when he needed him to be, he was a brother when it was necessary, and he was like a teacher when it was time to deal with his studies. He smiled when he caught site of a picture frame hanging on the wall in his bedroom. He had an arm around a very displeased, but relaxed, looking Sasuke and he was smiling toothily at the camera while Sasuke was just glaring at him. Obito was behind him, sticking out his tongue and making bunny ears on top of his head while his other arm had an arm around an scowling Itachi. The older Uchiha brother had his eyes closed and Naruto could make out a small vein at the center of his temple.

The blond smiled and toed off his shoes, crawling into bed and shutting his eyes, almost immediately drifting off into a deep slumber.

----------------------------------------------

Royal blue eyes looked outside the window as the scenery passed by her. She had a hand underneath her chin, propping up her head so that she wouldn't get tired of holding it up. She glanced at her parents who were still talking quietly to each other while paying attention to the road. She grinned and sneakily pressed down on a button right next to her elbow. The window rolled down and she breathed in the earthy scent. Cool wind swept through her long, fiery-red hair and she smiled.

"Kushina, roll up the window, we have the air-conditioning on." Her mother scolded. Kushina groaned and reluctantly flipped the button so that the window could roll up. When were they going to get there!

"Now Kushina, I know this must be a big change for you but just try and make friends, alright?" Her father spoke up as they neared as sign that read, 'Welcome to Konohagakure, the biggest city in the Fire Nation!'. She scoffed at the sign then turned to her father.

"I know dad." She said. Her father turned to her and flashed her a pearly white smile.

"That's my girl. This is a big opportunity for you mom as well! Getting promoted to the chief of crime investigation is a big thing." The red-head rolled her eyes.

"I know dad. I wasn't named after her idol for nothing." She drawled. Her mother giggled happily.

"And you're the spitting image of her, too!"

"Yeah mom, I know. You remind me five times a day." Her father let out a chuckle and then everything stayed silent after that. Kushina almost bounced with glee when they were at least five miles away from where they were going to be staying at. She noticed a homey-looking apartment building right next to her street and groaned. She hoped there weren't any teenagers from her new school living there.

The red-head spotted something and gawked when she saw a dark-blue Camaro sitting on the side of the road. She noticed a shock of bright blond hair climb out of it and walk in the apartment complex. That was a nice car. Her parents parked in the driveway and they climbed out of the green Passat. She glanced back and noticed that the car drove off when the blond was finally inside. She sighed and followed her parents inside her new home. The moving people had already set up everything so it was easier. Now she could just lay down and got to sleep. She dreaded tomorrow for it was her first day in her new school.

As she landed face first on her bed, she couldn't help but feel a bit excited.

"Gah, I wanna go home." She whined into her pillow.

--------------------------------------------

As Sasuke drove off into the night, he couldn't help but remember the girl he had saw earlier. She looked to be around his age, but he never noticed her before in his life. All he had seen was her long red-hair as she climbed out of her car. He continued to muster over it until he finally made it to his driveway. He carefully parked his Camaro and walked inside. He was greeted by his big brother, Itachi, who was sitting in the kitchen watching his mother cook. He turned his ruby-red eyes to him.

"You played well, ototou, but I didn't see you after the game." He told him. Sasuke felt his heart swell at the compliment but he didn't let it show on his face. His brother played in the eleventh grade A-team, so it wasn't that he had went to go watch him play. Sasuke shrugged and hugged his mother then sat down.

"I went to go drop off Naruto." He stated simply. He heard his mother squeal and he winced at the volume she put into it. She looked hopefully at him and he sweat-dropped.

"Oh, how is my Naru-chan doing! I haven't seen him in ages! I do hope he comes by to visit soon! Ah, I just miss him so much!" She gushed while stirring the white rice in the pan. He heard a deep chuckle and his brother and him turned to the doorway. Their father walked up to their mother and hugged her from behind, all the while, a soft smile on his face.

"I'm sure he'll come visit soon, dear." He reassured his wife. She nodded and smiled at him, placing a chaste kiss on the corner of his mouth. Sasuke turned away. It wasn't that it was disgusting, no, it was just awkward to see his parents act all romantic and stuff. His older brother placed his eyes somewhere else and he stifled a snicker.
